AirCheck Wi-Fi Tester

Introduction

AJP Solutions is proud to introduce the new Fluke Networks AirCheck WiFi Tester from 1 March 2010. As a Premier Advantage Partner we are experienced in all of the Fluke Networks Analysis products and over the last decade this is one of the most exciting.

Wi-Fi is a complex technology and has grown at an amazing rate since its introduction. We now have 802.11n with its promise of better RF coverage, capacity and reliability to go alongside 802.11a, b and g. According to Gartner by the end of 2011, 70% of all new worldwide voice and data client to LAN connections will be wireless. Although the technology can be complicated testing with AirCheck should not be…

Overview

AirCheck allows Network Engineers to identify issues and troubleshoot WLAN across 802.11 a, b, g and n networks all from the same handset. It has a colour screen with a small number of navigation keys that will give answers in just a couple of clicks. AirCheck provides an instant view to network availability, connectivity, utilization, security settings, rogue hunting and interference detection. All of the information is provided in a rugged, small and light unit that’s easy to use and easy to carry.

Instant on operation – Powers up in less than 3 seconds! Automatically starts discovering Networks, Access Points (APs) and Channel Activity.

Get answers fast – user interface quickly gives you answers in one or two clicks on a bright colour display.

Identifies security settings for each Network and AP – Open, WEP, WPA, WPA2 and/or 802.1x.

Pinpoints WiFi traffic and interference – shows how much of each channels bandwidth is consumed by 802.11 traffic and interference, and the AP`s using each channel.

Finds Rogue APs – flags unauthorised APs. Helps you hunt them down with the LOCATE function.

Connection tests – acquires an IP address and pings the router, gateway, and user-defined addresses to verify connectivity.

Five hour battery life.

Reports – Saves complete reports of a troubleshooting session for download to your PC with the push of a button.

Easy upgrades – mini USB port for software upgrades.

Functions

List Access Points – view a list of all physical APs including: channel, signal level, AP name or MAC address, SSID name, Security, type of network.

Channel Usage – quickly see if channels are overloaded due to WiFi traffic or interference

Channel usage details – find overloaded channels and interference in further detail. Drill in to see the level of WiFi traffic and interference over the last 60 seconds on a selected channel as well as the access points using this channel.

Access Control settings – you are able to ascertain which APs are known by setting the authorisation status. Set device to either Unauthorised, Authorised, Neighbour device, Guest device or Flagged.

Locate Access Points – Track down rogue APs by signal strength.

Access Point Details – Identify AP configuration problems. View following info: Signal, Noise, Signal to Noise ratio (current and max). SSID and BSSID. ACL status and security.

Connect to a network – verify network availability by connecting to an SSID by associating with AP, requesting IP address from DHCP server and PING gateway, DHCP and user defined addresses.

List probing clients – Find misconfigured or failed clients and view a list of all probing devices by MAC and signal strength.
